The following changes occurred after the 2005–2006 Oklahoma Almanac went to press and are not reflected in the online version: Governor Brad Henry appointed Judge David B. Lewis to the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals on August 4, 2005. Lewis is the first African American to serve on the court. • Governor Brad Henry appointed Judge Doug Gabbard to the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals on August 4, 2005. Gabbard replaces retiring Judge Joe C. Taylor. • Connie Johnson won election to the Oklahoma Senate from District 48 and was sworn in on October 3, 2005. She replaced Senator Angela Monson who relinquished her seat as a result of term limits.
