The Oklahoma
Collection ...
housed
and maintained by the State Library is a collection of materials about
Oklahoma and by or about Oklahomans. For a catalog of our holdings see
ODL Catalog.
So
what specific resources might I find here?
This
Collection consists of books about Oklahoma or by Oklahoma
authors. Attempts are made to collect current and past works of Oklahoma
authors who have exhibited an "Oklahoma Connection". Books about
Oklahoma of historical interest in a variety of disciplines are also collected.
Native American history, language, and cultural materials are a focus
of the collection. Most of our materials can be borrowed on Interlibrary
loan through requests made at your public
library. While your primary genealogy source in our state is the Oklahoma
Historical Society we do have valuable resources you might want to
use, including the Duke Indian Oral History Collection on microfiche and
the Indian Pioneer History Collection (Pioneer Papers) on microfilm.
Our
Serial collection has journals either of cultural, ethnic
or historical interest specific to Oklahoma or are published within our
state.
The
Oklahoma Vertical Files Collection
is a collection of newspaper clippings, pamphlets, and ephemeral materials
arranged in Subject
and Biography
files.
We
also house Videos and other audio visual materials produced
in the state or about Oklahoma topics.
