A democracy demands that the public have access to government information. There are two GPO Regional Depository Libraries in the state (the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and Oklahoma State University), and 18 Selective Depository libraries that provide public access to the publications of federal government. This page lists the depository libraries in Oklahoma, and provides a general guide to their collection holdings and the services they provide. Access to the depository collections listed on this page are, by federal and state law, open to the public. The majority of these publications may be either borrowed from the depository libraries directly or through the interlibrary loan services local libraries provide for their patrons. An explanation of the abbreviations used in the collection listings is provided below. A complete list of GPO depositories in Oklahoma, including their collections and services, may be accessed from the links in right margin, or by clicking on the numbers in the image map above.
